Any Halloween or slasher flick you may let your kids watch will have way more cursing than this. There are a couple instances of strong language James Caan repeatedly types the f word at one point on a piece of paper and I think he says it one other time and Kathy Bates has one or two moments of a profanity here and there but considering the R rating this is very light as far as profanity goes. Still having said that depending on what your tolerance for violence is in showing your kids, this movie otherwise really has that much else offensive. This is a very violent movie with an unpleasant and eerie atmosphere. The R rating is deserved don’t get me wrong. Overall, the suspense and psychological tension driving the movie to psychotic outbursts and violent altercations is way too much for kids, but older teens and adults should enjoy one of the better adaptations of Stephen King's novels. While speaking highly of his work, the antagonist asks the name of the "dago" who made the Sistine Chapel. Other profanity includes "c-ksucker" and "bitch." The writer is kept drugged for a time, at first with pills, then later with a forced syringe shot into his arm.
